My Lord,
Your Lordship's of the 27 of December is the
most part a duplicate of your for-
mer, Mr Secretary Coke and Mr Secretary Winde-
bank having likewise sent me dupli-
cates of His Majesty's orders for my re-
pair to Turin, whither my journey is
only stayed [i.e. delayed] for want of an answer to
some professions I made in the College
which there is some difficulty, in parti-
cular in a point concerning the Duchess
of Savoy, which hereafter I shall give
Your Lordship account of. I am well in-
structed how to behave myself to that Princess
[of Savoy, deleted] in the title she pretends unto
and what answer to give to the German
gentleman who would have interposed in the
