My Lord,
I have taken exact information of what
the King desired to see farther into
concerning the Venetian Ambassador
and find that, upon my licensing
myself from the College, this
State sent their ambassador such a rela-
tion of the business with the platform
of my house as might best excuse and
lessen the injury I complained of
without giving farther order for his taking
dislike at my person. But the Ambassador
persuaded, as it is believed here, by my
enemies (who, I am told, are in no small
number) to proceed farther, gave account
to the State that, for the advantage
of their cause, he was forced to put the
King [Charles I] in mind of the great passion I
had used in the resentment I made
here, not forbearing to tax my want of
