A List of His Grace the Duke of
Hamilton’s Pictures in the Abbey of Holyrood
House, taken this 5th day of October 1704, as
they are now hung and numbered, the numbers
being on the fore part of some, and on the back
side of others
Impr[i]mis - In the Great Staircase.
No. 1 The figure of an Angel with two children in her arms
2 A good copy of King Charles II
In the Dining Room.
3 A prospect of Greenwich Park.
4 A piece of cocks and hens with a monkey
5 A winter piece with men going with skates on the Ice
6 A horse head.
7 An old head of Bloomark[?Bloemaert]
8 The Marquis of Huntly in crayons after van Dyke.
9 A sea piece by Pourtelles. [?Porcellis]
10 A quarter piece of a woman done by Paul Veronese with her right hand
towards her breast.
11 A boy's head after Raphael eight square by Mr. Cooke
12 A man’s head by Goltzius, eight square.
In her Grace’s Bedchamber.
13 A good copy of Queen Ann[e] a half length
14 A quarter length of King Henry VI1
15 An oval of James, Duke of Hamilton.
16 A copy of the Duke of Norfolk’s picture when a boy a quarter length
with a band, done by Jarvis [Jervas].
17 A copy of Mrs Barlow who was mother to the Duke of Monmouth
By Jarvis [Jervas].
In the drawing room belonging to her Grace
18 An original picture of Phillip II, King of Spain at full length
laying his hand on Fame by -----
19 A small length of James, Marquis of Hamilton, L[or]d Steward to King James VI
20 An original head, a quarter length, of James, Duke of Hamilton
Master of the Horse to King Charles I by van Dyke.
21 An original half length of William, Duke of Hamilton, his Grace’s
father in the robes of the garter by Sir Godfrey Kneller.
22 A small full length with red stockings of the Earl of Pembroke
who was Lord Chamberlain to King Charles 1.
