The Long Gallery
Thomas Annan's photograph shows the 120-foot-long Long Gallery, which was built during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. For over two hundred years the Gallery was famous as the setting for Rubens's large painting of Daniel in the Lions' Den and portraits of the Dukes of Hamilton and other members of the Hamilton family by Mytens, Van Dyck, Kneller and later artists.
